Paisleys

Hi you guys!

I am back! I had such a full weekend of being out in the sun, at the pool and handling my boyfriends son (who IS quite the handful), then we were off to Nashville for the day on Monday.
Needless to say, when Tuesday rolled around and I found myself alone at home, I didn't do a damn thing!
Nashville was awesome though, and we totally want to move there now! While we were there, I also found an American Apparel so I bought a few more polishes of theirs to add to my sad collection of 3.

I have NO nails done to post, but luckily I did a guest post for Heather at Peace, Love and Polish awhile back and since she has posted it this past weekend, I can show it to you!

Read on for a little sneak peek and a link to the full post!

I did these cool little copper paisleys for her, outlined in black, with a full on how-to you can check out:

Back in Time Part 2 - June Edition

It's time for BACK IN TIME!

This is a 2 part feature on the blog where every month I do a Back in Time mani of my own and then halfway through the month I do one of Debbie's.

We did add a third person to the mix for Back in Time though, so next month we will rotate between the three of us choosing who does what. it's all behind the scenes stuff...

Just enjoy the pics!

Ugh you guys...I am not one of those bloggers who tells you all the drama in my life (or lack of) but I have had a week from hell it feels like.
Add to that a ton of nail art and I am spent....
After today I will be taking a couple of days off from the blog. We have a full weekend here and then going out of town for the day on Monday to Nashville for my boyfriend to get some tattoo work done. So I will be back home Tuesday and probably have something on the blog then or the day after. Will miss you guys though...just need a breather.

So for todays Back in Time...lets check out the mani that Debbie did last year that inspired me this month, her Wonder Woman Mani:

Pretty awesome, right? Here is the LINK to her original post.

I used sooooooooo sooooooo sooooooo many polishes for this manicure. So many! I really did enjoy doing this mani, except for the thumb. I did this damn thumb FIVE times you guys. I almost gave up on it.

I super love the rest of the nails here though, especially the tiara on my index finger.

The pinky is her bracelet, the ring is her unders, middle is her corset top (its got an eagle on it, but since there's no way in hell i'm doing an eagle, i used a fan brush and feather stroked on it), the tiara on the index and then the Wonder Woman logo on the thumb.

I had so much fun doing this, but after that nightmare thumb I am GLAD it's over! Kudos to Debbie for getting hers so good the first time out!

Here is Debbie's again:

Make sure and stop by The Crumpet and see what she did of mine! (IF she did....she's been threatening to not do it!)

Commenting Update/Testing

YOU GUYS!
My blog commenting is driving me batty.
The newest system I installed (Intense Debate) seemed to keep ungluing itself to my blog.
Super annoying.
So...I switched again...to Livefyre...which was what I originally wanted to do but they didn't have a system in place for Blogger, but I think I found a workaround.
All of your previous comments are still safe they are just hidden so don't worry, even though they are invisible.
So please if you could do me a HUGE FAVOR and comment on this post so I know it's working ok and I can work out any bugs.
If you have a problem commenting, can you EMAIL ME and let me know the details of the problem?

I love you guys, and I thank you for putting up with this nonsense!

Digital Dozen Book Week - Day 5 - First Editions

Hey guys!
Here we are the the last day of Book Week.
It also marks the last day of any theme weeks I have til next month, which is my favorite time of the month...relaxation.

I've been really happy with the nail art I've been putting out the last 2 weeks but I am READY for a break!

Todays Book Week theme is super basic - I call it - First Editions

I fashioned todays challenge after something like this:

So yeah - used a few polishes today. This doesn't include the gold (that you probably didn't even notice) or the white I used to write with.
Manglaze - Fattys Got More Blood
Manglaze - Santorum
Zoya - Veruschka
Bourjois - Jaune Trendy
Milani - Shady Grey (texture)

Since I didn't have book colored texture polishes, I started with a base of the Milani textured polish on all nails. After it had fully texturized, I sponged on the top color to each nail.
Pinky - Fattys Got More Blood over Shady Grey
Ring - Jaune Trendy over Shady Grey
Middle - Veruschka over Shady Grey
Index - Santorum over Shady Grey

Then I did a baroque style stamp down the center of each nail using China Glaze Passion (but once you add the textured spine lines and lettering you hardly see it) - added stripes in the same colors with a striping brush and then I added in the book titles.

So what do you think? Do they look like old leather bound books?

I couldn't do this post without including THIS:

Make sure and visit the rest of the Digital Dozen and see their final Book Week mani's too! MUAH!

Digital Dozen Book Week - Day 4 - Less Than Zero

It's back to Book Week, on Day 4 now, which means only one more left!
Today's book is by my 2nd favorite author, Bret Easton Ellis. I have read so many of his books it is ridiculous. My favorite is American Psycho, but since I did that last year for the 31 Day Challenge, I chose to do what was my favorite of his books that was made into a movie I loved. Yes, American Psycho was also made into a film (along with a few other books of his), but to be honest, outside of Christian Bale, that movie was atrocious compared to the book. Not that I ever thought they could really make that book into a movie, its far too grotesque for a major Hollywood release. ANYWAY! Come on...

Book Cover Art I based my mani on.
Less Than Zero follows the story of 3 high school friends after they graduate and move on to college. They are all from very affluent families and I love how the story shows how money can make or break you sometimes. The thing I love about Bret's books is that they always have a few repeat characters in them that move from book to book. Anyway - the book as well as the film are epic, ANYTIME I see Less Than Zero on cable when I'm flipping around, you can bet I turn it on. I love it that much. No one plays a drug addict better than Robert Downey Jr. This book is a must read, the movie is a must watch.

So I took a bit of all aspects of the book cover and used them here. Ruler on the pinky, done with Zoya Pippa and black acrylic paint with striper brush. I didn't realize until I was uploading these photos that the cover art is not a ruler but a cigarette. Oops. BUT they are in school, sort of, so it still applies!

The two splatter nails are Zoya Dove with black, green and white acrylic paint splatter.

The middle 3-D glasses design is Sation Loudest Color for the base and then the rest was done with acrylic paints.
Seen this movie or read the book? Love Bret Easton Ellis? Tell me your favorite of his books! This, American Psycho and The Rules of Attraction are my faves. I also really like Glamorama.

Make sure and peep the ladies too:
