If polishes were fish!

If polishes were fish, they'd all aspire to be Pink Salmon.
When I saw this in the bottle, I liked it. I wasn't sure if our relationship would ever lead to more.
But then we went out on a date and our love affair was cemented!
F4 Polish's Pink Salmon is described as small pink and white glitter with larger satin pink hex glitters in a clear base.
It's slightly sparse, so I was pretty certain this would take at least 3-4 coats to get opaque (though they do have a swatch showing it pretty opaque at 3 coats) - so I layered it over what I have now dubbed the perfect underwear, at least for this polish - Fingerpaints Pop Rock Pink.
Pop Rock Pink is like a pinkish coral with the most insanely beautiful pink shimmer running through it.
Just look:

This was 2 coats.

Now comes the icing on the cake!

2 coats of Pink Salmon over 2 coats of Pop Rock Pink.
1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Out the Door and it's smooth and silky. Not hungry or bumpy is this glitter.
It's a gorgeous polish, but that extra shimmer from the Fingerpaints polish underneath just knocks it out of the park.

I'm a sucker for you, Black and White!

So many awesome black and white polishes out in the world today - how do you decide? decision is usually made based on what is actually available to me at the time I have disposable income also available to me.
So it's no surprise that after I'd placed an order for F4's Mint Chocolate Chip, the next day their Pink Penguin became available so I snatched it up too!
It's a gorgeous black and white matte glitter with larger pink glitter.
If you know me, you know I love me some pink.
So this is basically my perfect glitter.
I do believe that this polish here is meant to be a standalone.
However...I was doing a swatch-a-thon and didn't want the hassle of glitter removal from hell, so I opted to coat this over Zoya's Dove.

I love Zoya Dove - it's like the perfect cross between China Glaze Recycle and Pelican Gray.
The formula on this was a little runny and I had some pooling, but I can deal. This was two coats. It was a quick and dirty swatch and 3 would have been ideal, but since I knew I was layering this, I stopped at two and was happy. No top coat here. And sorry bout my wonky ringer - I had a snafoo.

Look at this pretty....this my friends, is Pink Penguin. Or Pink Penquin. Who knows. I'm confused.

Do you love it's awesomeness? This is one coat over Zoya Dove. It was a hungry glitter, I used Gelous and Out the Door and once that dried it was still bumpy. I can imagine 2 or 3 coats would be even hungrier. But you know this is gonna happen with full cover glitters. It's perfect. Just simply perfect. F4 is of course, on Etsy - and I should be having the other 2 polishes I ordered from them hitting the blog this week as well (that's for you Kirsten!).

Now...lemme just say one other thing before you scroll down to the next photo.
In the blog world, I cross my legs and don't put my elbows on the dinner table...
but in my real life I cuss like a sailor and talk about everyone in town.
So when my friend texted this to me earlier tonight, I couldn't NOT post it.
Sorry bout the effers in it!

Teal Tuesday - Tattoo Style!

Teal Tuesday Time!
This week we got a free day - so I decided to do a tattoo style Tuesday...

So what I've done here is painted my nails with Milani Fresh Teal. It's classified as a Neon and it was almost totally opaque in one coat. Very nice polish with great application.
My boyfriend did my letters since it was for my non-dominant hand! He was nervous but I think he did a great job. Then the thumb is a temporary tattoo!

If you are interested in participating in Teal Tuesdays, just drop me a line in the comments with your blog address so I can add you to the participating blog list. And there is also a FB Group! Please join in the conversation!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday - Betsey Johnson!

It's Monday again. Do you know what that means yet?
Well...every Monday me and a bunch of other awesome ladies take the challenge to re-create a mani we've liked on the interweb somewhere.
Mine today is not really one mani but rather multiple mani's I have seen inspired by Betsey Johnson. I took some ideas from different mani's I liked and sorta did my own twist on those.

Colors used:
Sephora by OPI - XOX Betsey
Sephora by OPI - It's My Pink
OPI - Pink Friday

Check out what all the other lovely ladies did for Monkey See Monkey Do Monday:

Who Doesn't Love a Layla Rainbow?

I gotta just tell you - have you ever really avoided a trend so hard, thinking you could never possibly like it, and then one day you realize you've fallen hard for that very trend?
This happened to me with holos.
I used to spend alot of my internet time on the MUA nail board and I'd always see the girls posting about holos. I dismissed them, finding them to be not my taste. But then something happened and I started obsessing about their rainbow eliteness! I had to have ALL THE HOLOS!
Of course, I don't have them holo collection is very small compared to most of yours I am certain. I have seen ladies with entire nail wheels full of only one color holo!
So anyway - this is my intro into Layla Holos. Once I started hearing of them popping up at Ulta I was pretty excited to get these much anticipated holo's in the US. I finally stomped on down to Ulta a couple weeks ago and the sweetie pie girl I know that works there pulled them out of the backroom for me and I ended up with Ocean Rush and Flash Black.
Now lemme say this...
Pro - Nothing will prepare you for how gorgeous these are when you put even the first coat on! I have never seen a rainbow this gorgeous on my nails with any other holo I own.
Con - This bottle is tiny and damned if it didn't seem like it was half empty.

I've been told and heard from many people that if you do not have an aqua base to apply these on top of, you need to apply them over a glossy top coat or a glossy base polish. I applied these to a freshly done gel manicure, so I had absolutely no application issues. These are all 2 coats with no top coat - but I did topcoat after these pics and it did not affect the holo-i-ness at all.

Saturday Summary!

Here we go with the Saturday Summary - a weeks worth of polish wrapped into a colorful burrito!

Now you know it wouldn't be a weekly summary without a haul post, right?
Well this week I tried to keep it kind of tight...and since I had last weekend off work, we decided to hit the flea market. This was the first time in probably over a year I'd been to the Flea and it was def. the first time hitting one up since my polish habit started. The only thing I love more than a good deal, is finding a new seller of Kleancolor. I don't even know why I'm so obsessed with that brand.

So let me show you what I found...

They had a great selection, for sure better than what I found a couple of months ago at a beauty supply.
So I got 7 and these were $1 each.

Then this other dude had bins of $1 polishes....
Revlon Matte Suedes in Emerald City, Fire Fox and Powder Puff.

More $1 polishes - CND Beau, CG Princess Grace and WnW Blackmail.

Total Flea Market Damage - $13 (really $6, I made my boyfriend buy me the Kleancolors, ok, he offered)

Then I went to my little hole in the wall clothing store in town that always carries Color Club packs, sometimes I've managed to get these things for 4 bucks. This one was 10 but it was worth it, and it was the last one, so that's always a sign to buy!

This is the Poptastic Collection.

And then and then and then!
My F4 Polish order came in this week, too!!

Pink Penguin, Mint Chocolate Chip and Pink Salmon

The rest of these are swaps...

From the lovely Debbie - A franken she made, Barry M Teal and Croc Effects, Nubar Stylish Peacock, All That Glitters Plum and Plummer and Models Own Copper Pot!

And THIS mega epic swap is from Angi! This was our biggest yet and it was EXPLOSIVE!

So much awesome in ONE box!

That's all for this week! Have a great weekend ya'll!!

52 Week Challenge - Fruit!

The 52 Week Challenge has called upon us this week and the theme is Fruit!
I'd been really excited about this theme for awhile.
Then last month my swap pal Angi included some fimo fruits and Essence fruit polishes to my package and it was like KISMET!

I wasn't sure of the opacity of the Essence Mashed Berries, so I layered 2 coats of it over 1 coat of Catrice's Pimp My Shrimp. I love these Fruit polishes, they look so much like berry seeds, don't they?

Illamasqua Nomad

Illamasqua's Nomad is a STUNNER!
That said it's also a bitch, a bitch to photograph, that is.
Try as I might it was really hard to get the color accuracy on this, it's on the verge of neon!

This first one is the MOST color accurate:

The formula was outstanding. I expect no less from Illamasqua's polishes, and at $14 a bottle, they better be near perfect in my eyes. And they are. This was 2 coats of awesome and a top coat of Jordana quick dry top coat.
