SRS! (Special Request Swatch): Hello Kitty Night Sparkle

The lovely Courtney from Gaga for Nails has kindly asked me to swatch one of my newest acquisitions: Hello Kitty's Night Sparkle.
I picked this up last week at Sephora, it was on clearance for $5. Once I began applying this shade I realized two things - this is a small bottle, and I'm pretty sure it was used. It seemed like I had to dip down pretty far into the bottle to get some polish on the brush, bummer.
The size on this is .304 oz, is B3 Free and is stated to be high-gloss, anti-chip with UV Protection and resistance to both water and detergent. I may give it the "test" on these claims, since I do love how it turned out.

Left and right hand - sunlight.
This is:
CND Stickey Basecoat
ONE COAT Hello Kitty Night Sparkle
1 Coat Out the Door Top Coat

That's right, I said ONE COAT. This stuff does it! I could have probably used 2 coats to get any tiny mishaps and bald spaces, but overall, with the smallness of the bottle and the surprise disappearance of some of the product, I opted for one coat. The sparkle in the bottle is slightly less apparent on the nail, but not too bad, not like some polishes I have! Overall, not bad for the price, though I have many others like this so I won't be sad when it's quickly used up.

Of course, I knew this needed a great party hat, and since I bought Icing's After Party also last week and have been dying to use it since I bought it solely after seeing my friend who works at Icing wearing it. Not disappointed in the least, this is my new favorite party hat for polish!
This was one coat of After Party, followed by a coat of Gelous and topped with a coat of Out the Door. Smooth as a baby's booty.

OH PS - I changed my pictures to no black shadow around the edges and slimmed down my watermark a little. However, I did edit some challenge photos last night that will still have the old appearance. But do you like the new photo look?

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #10: Unicorn Magic Day

Oh unicorns...magic....rainbows. How I miss those days of yore!
Visit The Purple Crumpet Fairy and join in with us - this challenge goes til the beginning of April!
But seriously...I don't know what I was going for here, it started out as a gradient/ombre rainbow across my entire hand and ended up as a crazy glitter explosion mani.

Ok...here's your bottle shot. Looks like I used Sally Hansen Cinna Snap, Sinful Colors Timbleberry, Color Club Get Your Lem-On, OPI Jade is the New Black, China Glaze Frostbite and Zoya Savita. Explosions were Orly Luxe and overall glitter was Orly Shining Star.

And the black outlines were just a black art striper polish.
XOXO.

New Pretties!

I feel like I've gotten off track on my posts as far as the time of day I'm posting them. I try to stay on a morning post schedule but when I have days off and the boyfriend requires attention or we have things to do, I get sidetracked! So some posts have come through late at night and seemed like maybe I didn't post for a whole day, I try to post daily so - I'm going to drop another one on ya!

This is a haul post...I've got stacks of haul photos piling up that I need to post but haven't had a chance with challenge posts and other things going on...so this is a compilation of some things I've picked up in the last couple of weeks.

Sephora by OPI 212 Sephora & I Only Shop Vintage, Nails Inc Connaught Square and Hello Kitty Night Sparkle.

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #9: Favorite Spring Lilac or Peach

I've been on quite the purple kick these days, I don't even like purple! There's so much of it floating around in new collections that I guess it's worn me down!

Anyway - enough jibber jabber - here is my Favorite Lilac right now!

The Evolution of a Mani + Smell My Fingers in the Green Ocean!

Ok - I'm gonna go ahead and warn you right now that this is a post of pure and utter awesome.
So many planets aligned in my favor to bring this to you!
Firstly...I picked this glorious beauty up a few days ago:

That's right it says Betsey MF'ing Johnson. Sephora by OPI has teamed up with BJ to bring you a full line of radical nail delights. There's a mini set, a buncha single full sizes and some nail goodies like trend tips and decals (I think). My Sephora only had this, the perfumed pink called It's My Pink, but I believe Sephora.com has the rest (though last I checked they did not have the mini set yet).
But seriously, I love Betsey and bought this regardless of whether I already 50 pinks this shade. Who cares.
Let me also add that it is perfumed with her new scent. I was on the fence about scented polishes, but after this and some Color Club neon scented polishes I have picked up recently, I dig it. Im a fragrance snob for sure, but I have found myself sniffing my fingers all day since putting this on. The lovely Missy at Sephora (yes, she is rad for having the same name as me) gave me a sample of this scent when I bought the polish so double score - I think I love it! Sidenote, after 2 different top coats and a flakie coat, the fragrance still lingers!

So anyway - let's start my mani evolution, shall we?
It started yesterday, with China Glaze's Gaga for Green.

This is a nice shade I didn't have anything similar to. I'd call it a three coater, I was in a hurry and did only 2 here, but I could see some VNL, so it coulda used another. Good formula, China Glaze rarely fails me there.

Then at work today I was showing my gal pal the new Betsey and decided to use it in a tape mani. I've been meaning to do a tape mani since the 1st one I did about a month ago that was a total failure. This one was not!

Here's me holding Gaga for Green (right hand)

Here's me holding It's My Pink (left hand)

THEN - I've been seriously lemming Sinful Colors' Green Ocean since I read someone's post about it last week. I thought I might get a lucky score on it since St. Pats is coming up and apparently its promoted every year in conjunction with that boozefest. So I ran into Walgreens on my way home from work tonight and holy snaps - I found a bin with about 25 of them!!! At one point I had 3 of them in my hand, but I ended up leaving with only 2, as I know my nail cohort friend Taylor will need this in her life.

I loves it. Its a flakie hybrid - its not smooth, it has a gritty glitter texture and has glitters in different sizes, like irregular chunks (shards if you will). Its weird and I love it.

Can you tell I had 3 coffees today?

Three Colors!

Another Sunday at Adventures in Stamping is here and this week its the theme "3 Colors" - Interpreted however you like! I chose this idea here, using China Glaze Aquadelic, Fingerpaints Black Expressionism to stamp the zebra and stripe/dots and OPI Alpine Snow for the white base!

Let's Recap - Sinful Colors Cast Aways Collection

I previously swatched 3 of the new colors from the Sinful Colors Cast Aways collection here.
I've since gone back and picked up all of the others and brought them home to their friends and family.
Some I swatched, but a few I did not because there are some perfectly good swatches of Neptune and Grecian Sun over at Makeup Withdrawal.
I am adding in my original shots from the previous post, so even if you saw those already, there are new ones here as well!

Here is a shot of the entire collection:

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #8: Blossom Trees

How excited was I when I read the challenge today would be blossom trees?! I love cherry blossoms - I'm not big on a whole lot of japanese stuff, but i LOVE cherry blossom trees. I have a ton of cherry blossoms flying arounda  huge koi fish tattooed on my upper thigh, i like them that much!
So you know the drill by now - Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - stop over there, click join and have some fun with us - it's a super great group of ladies, most of which have blogs you can visit after the obligatory photo op. The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #7: Spring Sunrise

Hey hey here we are - better late than never, or I guess you can be the judge if it's better than never, cuz I'm still on the fence with this one. Todays challenge is Spring Sunrise...so I googled up a sunrise and came up with a pretty little sky scheme of blue, pink and purple. Busted out my stamping plates and went to town. Not quite exactly sure what I used here, I'm pretty sure at the time all of my China Glaze Electropop colors were at the front of my drawers (before I Melmer'd and re-organized) so it's probably the light pink, medium blue and purple from that collection. If memory serves me (which it hardly ever does anymore) those colors would be called Kinetic Candy (or Electric Beat?), Dance Baby and Gothic Lolita. Or that purple may be China Glaze Flying Dragon. ANYWAY!  I sponged 'em, and then I glittered 'em with some CND Sparkle Effects in Raspberry. Then I mattified 'em.  Enjoy.

PS - Sorry, not sure where my thumb is.

Cast Aways!

Popped into Walgreens today on my way to work, the one I call the "good" Walgreens since they have the nicest and freshest new nail sections added and the most current displays. I ran across the Sinful Colors Cast Away Display and picked up a few cool looking dusty shades. Came home and went to pin them to my stash board on Pinterest and realized they were too new to find swatches of! So - I made some! Hope you like them.
I'll just start off to say each of these is One coat of base, 2 coats polish and no top coat.

This is Athens. Athens in all of it's dusty teal amazement.
Here we have Olympia. A gorgeous dusty lime green creme.
And lastly we have Zeus. Zeus is a stunning dusty purple with a pink shimmer. I wanted it to be my favorite as I'm on a serious purple kick lately, but in the end, I think Athens won my heart.

New Look!

Haven't been here long and I've already changed this blog's makeup 3 times. I can't ever stay happy with the look of things - so don't be surprised if this changes a zillion more times! But this, I'm happy with. This represents my taste more than the other faces this blog previously had! Hope you like it, the crazy lady screaming at you on the left that is!

Tattoo Blue aka Q1 Love

It's another off day in the world of nail challenges.
Not for my cat though, she's always hard at work to make sure I don't sleep in, AT ALL.
So I didn't plan anything for this off day, I hadn't realized it was coming and had the choice between showing you some digits or some new pretties. I'm opting for digits, hope that's ok.
A few weeks ago I was double-stoked on finding the newly coveted (and extremely cheap) Sinful Colors Cinderella. At the same time, I had also just acquired my Konad Q1 Plate...alas - the two worlds collided in what I like to call...SUPERAWESOMEBALLS.

(not all of these stamp images are from Q1)

In other news...I really want these new Hunger Games/Capitol Colors China Glaze polishes...but Sally's lies and says they are in stores when they aren't! Why Sally's?

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #6: Pink Polka Dots

Day 6 is upon us at The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Today it's Pink Polka Dots. I love pink. I love pink so much I couldn't even decide on 2 pinks to use. Instead I went with one of my all time favorite looks, the "matti-cure". This is China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic from the Electropop Collection. 2 Coats, topped with 1 coat of Seche Vite and then polka dots added with matte top coat by NYC (I didn't even know this existed until a recent trip to Walmart, its pretty decent stuff!)

PS - I hit 50 followers! Ya'll are the best! Should I have a 100 follower giveaway? I'm new to this...if you've done a giveaway before I would love any advice you have! Thanks! <3

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #5: Spring Clean/An Out of Season Color

And we're back with the Spring Challenge from The Purple Crumpet Fairy! Today we're doing Spring Cleaning!
Even though I would wear this color in the springtime, it's definitely not one you'll find popping up in the new spring collections!
Of course, I also needed the chance to use my new Lynnderella! It's my first, and probably last with all of the difficulty it takes to obtain them, still not quite sure how I managed to get this one!

2 Coats China Glaze Recycle and 2 Coats Lynnderella Connect the Dots.

Have a great day! XOXO.

Some Haulage!

We've got a few days off from Challenges (technically I have a corset mani to do for the 52 week Challenge but I'm kinda not feelin' it...shhh don't tell).
So today I'm gonna bring you some random pics!

This is Biscuits, and she loves to be involved in everything we do. Here she is helping Daddy put Mommy's new Melmer together. That's right - I have reached Melmer status! Almost 2 Melmer status actually!

All On Black

Today's post is brought to you by the fine ladies over at Adventures in Stamping. We stamp on Sundays, and today's challenge was a plate ending in 3. I struggled with what plate to use now that my collection has grown. Initially I used a bm plate with spiderwebs but it sucked so so hard. SO....I opted for my beloved Konad M63 Houndstooth, oh Houndstooth, you never dissapoint.
The title of this blog post...well, it happens to be the title of my favoritest song in the world..and it's pretty obvious when you see the pic:

Base was 1 coat of Fingerpaints Black Expressionism (hands down my fave black right now, so glossy and opaque in one coat!)
1 coat Seche Vite
Konad M63 stamped with Zoya's Dovima, which is a great Matte Black and great for stamping!

I absolutely love monochromatic and what I call "matti-cure" mani's...this is definitely in my top 10 of best manicures I've done. Hope you enjoy!

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #4: Spring Water Marble

Todays a new challenge over at the Purple Crumpet Fairy Group...
Spring Water Marble.
Oh water marble...why must we fight so? There is nothing I can do right to make marbling work for me. Every time I try it just turns into a disaster...I managed to make this one work but I really didn't like it, so I threw glitter on top of it.
I believe I used the new China Glaze Recycle, Sweet Hook, and the Electropop pink colors and the glitter is Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop.

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #3: Small Flowers/Flower Bed

Here we are on the 3rd Day of the Spring Challenge w/Purple Crumpet Fairy. This one was themed as Small Flowers/Flower Bed. Well eh...here it is!

Here I used Sinful Colors Unicorn as the base. Colors used to stamp were China Glaze Gothic Lolita & Sweet Hook, Orly Hot Shot, Color Club Artsy Craftsy, and a Sinful Colors light green (I forget the name right now). Then it was all mattified.

The Kid Wore Blue

Today's an off day from the challenges I'm in - so here's a little treat.

A personal thing about me is that the males in my life love my "hobby". My boyfriend lets me paint his nails to test out colors when I'm low on nail wheels, and his son absolutely wants me to do his nails everytime he visits us. So the last time he was here, I had just received my stamping plates with the cute little characters that I pretty much got just for him. He was so excited - but he was also starting a new school the following week - so this cute little mani only lasted about 6 hours =(

These were done with Kleancolor Metallic Aqua and stamped using Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris.

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #2: Favorite Spring Pink

Day #2 of the Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge is Favorite Spring Pink. Well...pink is my favorite color, how do you decide on only one? I chose to go with a pink I hadn't used yet (there are several of 'em, I guess this was just the first one I grabbed!). It's Zoya Chloe!

This is a super sheer, slightly opalescent medium rosy pink. This was 3 coats, lots of VNL going on!

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge - Day #1

So here is Day #1 of the Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge - and I warned you it would be a V-Day themed one! I'm usually much better at posting early but unfortunately - my cat is in heat and driving me up the wall, I had to go sleep on the couch just to get 2 hours of sleep because she was crying all night! So without further ado....

I used Kleancolor Metallic Pink, 3 different shades of pink acrylic paint with a fan brush, Finger Paints Black Expressionism for the leopard spots and Hard Candy Fabuluxe for the random pink glitter spots.

52 Week Challenge - Valentine's Day Mani

I know I know...ANOTHER Valentine's Mani....And even better is I will be posting one more tomorrow too for ANOTHER challenge I'm in. I'm so sick of myself and these red and pink and yucko cutesy nails!
Since I had two challenges that were identical, I have had these waiting for a few days. I'm going to post the one I liked best tomorrow. So todays is simple: China Glaze Ruby Pumps. With some gems I had in my jewelry making kit.

Can't Stop Won't Stop

I'm averaging about 20 new polishes a week...give or take some. I gotta quit it, but it's hard because I go places and see sets of polish for 4 bucks, or $10 off $20 at Sally's....what's a girl to do? Today is a Haul Post in case you were wondering...do we like these posts? Do you like seeing bottle shots? I love taking product photos (I run an online business so I've spent alot of the past couple of years trying to perfect product photography, even though I'm still far from where I'd like to be with it.) - onto the goodies, hope you enjoy!

Here we have another polish from the China Glaze Electropop Collection - this is Sweet Hook.

More after the jump...

Purple Crumpet Fairy Friday Challenge - Tacky Valentine's Day Mani!

The Friday theme this week at Purple Crumpet Fairy was Tacky Vday!  I have a hard time getting tacky, at least in MY mind...but I'm sure plenty of others find me tacky, it's all a matter of opinion - and this is as tacky as I could get!

Orly Luxe Base on all nails
Kleancolor Metallic Pink to Stamp
Ring finger is strategically placed tacky hearts from Kleancolor Twinkly Love.

Enjoy!

Sally Hansen Fuchsia Power
Femme Couture French White
Finger Paints Black Expressionism
Red Angel Plates

Whimsical Ideas by Pam - Peanut Butter and Jelly Swatches

So yesterday I "reviewed" one of two polishes by Whimsical Ideas by Pam, and today I do #2 - Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Index - 1 coat
Middle - 2 coats
Ring & Pinky - 3 coats

My First Award!

The lovely Jackie over at MeMa's Mani's has thoughtfully awarded me the "Versatile Blogger Award" and I'm so thrilled - what a thoughtful thing to get!

The rules the way that I understand them, are to tell 7 things about yourself and then pass the award onto other deserving  bloggers!!

Seven things about me that are not boring!

1. I used to race jet ski's when I was about 10!
2. I was once on a dating tv show!
3. I once lived in 3 states in 3 months.
4. I am about 70% covered in tattoos.
5. I look a little intimidating and yet I have never been in a fight or a confrontation!
6. I love to play video games, especially the gory ones like Gears of War!
7. I bowl with the bumpers up.

Instead of tagging anyone else (I know some people don't like chain letter type things or may have already received this) - I will just refer you to my blogroll right there -------------------->
All awesome blog you NEED to check out.

Monday Mail & Haul Pics!

First off let me just say that I am THRILLED to have gotten 15 followers! It seems silly maybe...but I just started and any time I see a new follower I get all giddy that someone is interested in my new little blog! So thanks and welcome you 15 lovelies! Today I'm doing a haul post. Since I can't stop hauling. Yesterday was my 1 month anniversary on MUA, and would you believe that on January 6th when I signed up over there, I owned 29 nail polishes? Guess how many I own today? 194! Holy moly. And it's daily hauls like this that are that very reason:
Here we have China Glaze Glittering Garland, Holly Day and Turned Up Turquoise

52 Week Challenge - Half Moon Manicure

This was my first half-moon (as I'm new to nailing and blogging, there will be a lot of firsts, one of the reasons I took on a blog and multiple nail challenges) and I think it wasn't too terribly bad considering. I do admit I tend to lean towards overkill at times, I think that will settle down a bit once I've gotten over all of the initial excitement!
Anyway - why not kill a V Day Mani and Half Moon all at once, right? Yeah...that's the overkill I was just speaking of!

Used here is Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris as the base, some circle dots tapey things from the office section used for the half moon template, Kleancolor Metallic Red and then a variety of Konad and Red Angel plates for the stamps (if you want to know any plates #s just leave me a comment). There are some roses, leaves, flourishes and hearts stamped on there. I love it, but the metallic makes the stamping a little difficult to read. But it's fun! Thanks for reading, and on a side note, sorry for that wonky colored cute there, I accidentally grabbed a colored toothpick trying to clean the black off my cuticles and it bled on me!

Adventures in Stamping Sunday - ALL BLUE!

Ok...today is Sunday and it's a new stamping challenge over at AIS.
This week's challenge was ALL BLUE - and if you read my previous post, you know this isn't my first attempt.
This mani was so cute UNTIL i dry dropped on it and the residue fogged it up! It was glorious and matte and you could see all the zebra goodness....THIS is the good hand:

THIS is the bad hand:

So apparently...I didn't know that when this happens you can just add another coat and it'll go away, so I added a super sheer green glitter jelly franken to the top just to see what would happen. It made the fog go away but it made the awesome matte/metallic look go away too =(

SO that's that. Here is what I used:
Base- NYC Pier 17
Tips - OPI Russian Navy
Stamp - Kleancolor Metallic Navy

Here's a(nother) new challenge I have decided to undertake!

I believe you only have to be a member of The Purple Crumpet Fairy FB Group to do this...hopefully between this, the weekly challenge and my Sunday stamping challenges I won't be overwhelmed with nail duties! But it'll be a good way to to use up all of these untrieds I keep "accumulating" every time I leave the house (like the 6 homeless polishes that followed me home from Walgreens today when I went to pick up snacks)!

Trudging Along and feeling BLUE.....

Adventures in Stamping over on Facebook has got me in a tizzy this week. This weekends challenge is BLUE. Everything on the nail has to be blue. So of course, 2 things would occur in my brain for this. 1 is that this seems easy enough. 2 is that of all the colors I own, blue is the most forgotten about. Literally, I must have 6 blues.
Anyway - this was to be my look, but was not wildly successful because once again I learned that (for me) glitter and stamping do not go together.
This was using Revlon Royal as a base with Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe on top. Stamped with Kleancolor Metallic Jungle and a random Konad flower stamp. The stamp not only got lost in the glitter, but the  mani looked so glossy and gorgeous before I stamped it. You really lose the gorgeous glitter that is ATU when you stamp over it. For sure I will be using that Royal/ATU combo again though! Sigh.

Needless to say, I am not entering this into the challenge. I re-did my challenge and even though I had a big issue - I managed to "make it work" and will post THAT later this weekend.
Thanks for reading/following!

Nothing to see here, move along...

It's been one thing after another this week..which is weird since I haven't even had to work!
But yesterday I was blah and it was raining so I just enjoyed my pink and black mani for an extra day - and today I'm sick! I did paint my nails though, for an upcoming challenge I can't post til Sunday. So nothing here today except for an apology and a promise to have something tomorrow!
